Long long ago, on the northern bank
of Java, exactly on the shoreline of Pati, Central Java, there was an anglers
village, Teluk Cikal. The village was a part of Pati which was ruled by Adipati
Pragolo II. Pati was one of areas vanquished by Mataram Sultanate ruled by
Sultan Agung.
In Teluk Cikal village, there lived a
young lady named Roro Mendut. She was pretty beautiful. Furthermore, she could
straight forward-ly dismissed men proposing her, as she had young man whom she
cherished, Pranacitra, the son of Nyai Singabarong, a rich seller.
Oneday, her magnificence was heard by
Adipati Pragolo II. What's more, he needed to make her as his concubine. He had
asked her thousand times, however Roro Mendut continued dismissing him. He was
disillusioned and he sent couple of troops to kidnap her when she was drying
fish close-by shoreline.
“Hey, you must go with us to the
castle!” said the troops roughly and pulled her.

took her to castle. As future concubine, she should remain inside the royal
residence (pingit = old Javanese custom for young lady before her wedding day),

When she was in pingit period, Pati
Rule was flaming. Sultan Agung denounced Adipati Pragolo II as insubordination
as he would not like to send tribute to Mataram. Sultan Agung assaulted Pati,
and drove the ambush himself. Depend on the folktale, Sultan Agung couldn't
hurt him as Adipati Pragolo wore armor of kere waja. Seeing this the umbrella
holder of Sultan Agung , Ki Nayadarma, requested that Sultan Agung battle with
Adipati Pragolo II. Sultan Agung permitted him and gave him Baru Klinting
lance.
Ki Nayadarma battled with Adipati
Pragolo II, however Adipati Pragolo II could keep away from each assault from
Nayadarma. At the point when Adipati Pragolo was reckless, Ki Nayadarma cut
Adipati Pragolo II with Baru Klinting lance, to part of body revealed by
shield. Adipati Pragolo II kicked the bucket.
All troops driven by Tumenggung
Witaguna plundered Pati, including Roro Mendut. Tumenggung Wiraguna was
hypnotized by Roro Mendut excellence and he conveyed Roro Mendut to Mataram to
be his concubine. Tumenggung Wiraguna induced her to be his concubine, however
she dismissed, moreover she said honestly that she had a sweetheart as of now,
Pranacitra. Her honesty made Tumenggung Wiraguna irate.

Oneday, when she was offering
cigarretes, she met Pranacitra who desired her. Pranacitra attempted to figure
out how to get Roro Mendut out of Mataram. Roro Mendut disclosed to her
gathering with Pranacitra to Princess Arumardi, one of Wiraguna's concubine,
trusting that she could assist her with escaping. Roro Mendut realized that
Princess Arumardi did not concur Wiraguna would make another concubine.
Princess Arumardi and Nyai Ageng (another Wiraguna's concubine), arranged an
approach to get Roro Mendut out of the royal residence. Roro Mendut and
Pranacitra attempted to come back to their hometown, Pati.
Sadly, Roro Mendut and Pranacitra
escape was detected by Wiraguna, and they were found by Wiraguna. Roro Mendut
was taken to Mataram and discreetly he requested his men to slaughter
Pranacitra. Pranacitra passed on and wasburied in a little woods in Ceporan,
Gandhu, 9 km east of Yogyakarta.
Wiraguna at that point requested that
Roro Mendut be his concubine. In any case, Roro Mendut rejected him once more,
at last he told her regarding the demise of Pranacitra. Mendut did not trust
that and said that she saw him yesterday. Tumenggung Wiraguna at that point
took her to Pranacitra's grave. She cried at the grave of Pranacitra.

Pranacitra, Roro Mendut threated Tumenggung Wiraguna that she would reveal to
Sultan Agung about this. Tumenggung Wiraguna was furious and he drew Roro
Mendut home. She attempted to get free of Wiraguna, when she could discharged
herself she drew Wiraguna's creese, and raced to her darling's grave. Wiraguna
pursued her. Roro Mendut slaughtered herself, and Wiraguna neglected to stop
her . She cut herself with creese and she tumbled to Pranacitra's grave.
Wiraguna was exceptionally sad for
his misstep. In any case, his sorry was pointless everything had occurred. To
revise his oversight, Wiraguna covered Roro Mendut at indistinguishable grave
from Pranacitra. That was the story of Roro Mendut battling for her poise and
dependability.
